Our book for this year is General Chemistry (6th edition) by Raymond Chang and Jason Overby.
The lecture meets M,W,F from 9:30-10:20 in the bottom floor of the new science wing. Wake up early, get a cup of jo and be ready for "the wonder of God's creation".

This course is the 1st semester of a 2 semester course. This semester will cover the following concepts:
atomic structurestoichiometry
gas laws
periodic table
thermochemistry
bonding
intermolecular forces
The lab for chemistry class is on Thursday afternoons from 1:30 - 3:30. To me the lab is the best, we take what we learn in lecture and actually see it in real life.
Some of the labs in 1st semester are:
Production of sodium bicarbonate
Conversion of
sodium bicarbonate to sodium carbonate
Analysis of sodium carbonate
Molar ratio of an empirical formula
Enthalpy of reaction
Lewis
structures
Redox titration
Analysis of commercial hydrogen
peroxide
Analysis of commercial vinegar
Analysis of time
released Vitamin C
Analysis of phosphoric acid content of soda

"A scientist in his laboratory is not a mere technician: he is also a child confronting natural phenomena that impress him as though they were fairy tales."
