Welcome back to Southwestern College (or if this is your first year just plain welcome). This semester I will be teaching biology, general chemistry and calculus.
One thing I did this summer was make up a website for Southwestern students to sell and buy used textbooks from previous SWC classes. This is my attempt at helping save you some money. Click here to be taken to the website - I hope it can be useful.
I would have to say that I am VERY excited to begin this new school year. With the beginning of the premed emphasis at Southwestern I will be able to get back into teaching one of my favorite courses - chemistry. I know, I know - you are saying how can that be anyone's favorite. Everytime I see the interaction of science and math it just plain amazes me. I would nickname chemistry "practical math".
I don't want to depress you or anything but I thought I would show you how much time is left until the end of the semester.
This semester I thought I would leave you with 3 of my favorite quotes about education:
“...education is not filling a bucket, but lighting a fire.”
William Yeats
“...education is the most powerful weapon which
you can use to change the world.”
Nelson Mandela
“...education plus character, that is the goal of
true education.”
Martin Luther King
